Staff from the Presidency of the University of Garmian Met with Representatives of UNIMED

On Wednesday, the 30^th of June, 2021, staff from our university’s presidency met with representatives of UNIMED that is administrating the APPRAISE project, part of the Erasmus+ program of the European Commission.

\r\n

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Farhad Qadir Karim, president of the University of Garmian, Prof. Dr. Ezzedine Jomaa Darwish, Vice President of the University for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Yadgar Ali Mahmoud, Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, and Directors of each of International Academic Relations and Media, Quality Assurance, Pedagogy and Academic Development. The meeting was online via Zoom platform.

The aim of the meeting was to conduct the university self-assessment, which is one of the activities and requirements of the APPRAISE project. This has been done through answering a precise set of questions and precise observations of the University’s activities. The participating group from the university evaluated the University by through these points. Each participant answered the questions separately to determine the discrepancy in the answers, and the main purpose was to determine weaknesses, strengths and the future vision of the university, to determine the points to be worked on to improve the quality of the university.

In this meeting, the university president and the participating staff thanked UNIMED representatives, which consisted of Silvia Marchionne and Martina Zipoli. They also showed enthusiasm for our university to open up to the world through the participation and implementation of projects funded by the European Commission to internationalize the universities of KRG and connect them with global universities. As a result of this meeting, the president of the university and the participating staff from the university have shown their support, synergy, and the completion of all necessary requirements to advance and succeed the project, which provides an important service for our university for its progress in the administrative, financial and academic fields and linking the university with the global community.

The project is a reform process in the fields of governance, strategic planning and management of higher education institutions in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. KRG’s Ministry Of Higher Education And Scientific Research alongside eight universities from the Kurdistan region, and four European universities are partners in the project.
