Sherko was 2nd of his graduate class. He employed as Demonstrator (B.V.M.S.) and assistant lecturer (MSc) in Anatomy and Histology. He acquired PhD in cell molecular biosciences (Molecular Immunology) in Newcastle University, UK. He is one of the founders of the University of Garmian research centre, Coronavirus research lab and Biology department research lab. He is currently, Dean of College of Medicine and assistant professor in infection and Immunity. He has several research articles on Leishmaniasis, SARS COV-2, and Genetic polymorphisms.
