The Presidency of the University of Garmian has officially approved a new institutional logo, marking a significant step in the university's visual identity evolution. The decision was finalized during the most recent meeting of the University Council.
To formalize the change, the University Presidency submitted a letter to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for approval. On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, through its Directorate of Administration and Finance, officially endorsed the new logo via administrative letter number 16775.
The new logo is rich in symbolism, with each element carefully chosen to represent the university's values and identity:
The Color: This shade symbolizes the value of science, wisdom, seriousness, and deep thought.
Sun Rays: Representing illumination, renewal, growth, and hope, the ten rays specifically allude to the year the University of Garmian was founded.
Sherwana Castle: A prominent historical landmark, this fortress serves as the cultural and historical identity of Garmian and Kalar.
Alwand Bridge: This historical structure symbolizes the rich heritage of Kurdistan and is the cultural identity of Khanaqin.
White Color: The color white symbolizes a book, which is the ultimate source of knowledge and information.
2010: This number marks the founding year of the University of Garmian.
