The Directorate of Student Dormitories is one of the University’s administrative units and is affiliated with the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. The Director of Student Dormitories is responsible for the direct supervision, administration, and follow-up of the Directorate’s activities and services.
The Directorate’s primary responsibility is to organize, manage, and supervise the male and female student dormitories of the University of Garmian within the university campus. It also provides essential services on a continuous basis to ensure a safe, suitable, and comfortable residential environment for students.
The main services provided by the Directorate include organizing and allocating rooms to students, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, providing heating and cooling systems, and ensuring a continuous supply of water, electricity, and gas. The Directorate also provides hot water and clean drinking water, in addition to employing maintenance and cleaning staff on a regular basis.
Furthermore, the Directorate supplies the dormitories with essential equipment and facilities, including refrigerators, washing machines, and gas cookers. It also organizes various training courses and activities and provides a wide range of additional services to students throughout their years of study.
A 24-hour security and duty system is maintained in all student dormitories to ensure continuous supervision, safety, and preparedness for emergencies or unexpected incidents.
The University of Garmian concludes service contracts with two specialized companie for Student Dormitories:
1. A company responsible for cleaning the student dormitory buildings.
2. A company responsible for the maintenance and operation of dormitory equipment and facilities.
The Directorate manages four five-storey residential buildings located in Kalar District. Two buildings are designated for male students, while the other two are designated for female students. These buildings accommodate approximately 1,400 to 1,500 students annually.
At present, the Directorate has 40 employees, including permanent and contract staff. They are responsible for carrying out the administrative and service-related duties at the Directorate’s main office and in the male and female student dormitory buildings.

This unit is included in the Directorate’s official administrative structure; however, it currently has no assigned staff members.
