To protect the rights, privacy, and safety of research participants and to ensure compliance with international standards of scientific research, the University of Garmian has officially approved and implemented its Research Ethics and Integrity guidelines and forms.
Development and Implementation
This initiative follows a university order issued on January 20, 2026, which established a high-level committee chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed I. Khalil, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education. After a series of intensive meetings, the committee developed the necessary procedures and ethical consent frameworks.
The Research Ethics and Integrity Guidelines serve as a moral and scientific foundation to prevent physical, psychological, or legal harm and to safeguard the academic reputation of the University of Garmian.
Ethical Consent Framework
The committee designed two specialized forms to categorize different fields of study:
Form No. 1: Human and Animal Research – Dedicated to studies involving humans and living organisms.
Form No. 2: Non-living Subject Research – For research dealing with data, materials, and technical systems.
Moving forward, obtaining Scientific Research Ethical Consent is a fundamental requirement for all applicable research conducted at the university.
Impact on Academic Publishing
The university’s scientific journals, Pasar and Aran, will now require researchers to have obtained prior ethical consent as a mandatory condition for publishing any study involving human or animal subjects.
