Within the framework of the RISE Project by UNIMED, University of Garmian organized a three-day training program to strengthen international relations, academic and student capacities.
On May 12, 13, and 14, 2026, the Directorate of International Relations and the Career Development Center (CDC), and within the framework of the RISE Project, successfully organized a three-day training program on internationalization, academic exchange, student mobilities, and the advancement of research activities. The program targeted representatives of the International Relations (IR) offices and Career Development Centers (CDC) across the university’s colleges, with the participation of academic staff, employees, administratives, and undergraduate students.
The ToT aims at strengthening the skills and sharing knowledge across the academic community, contributing to a broader impact and supporting capacity building at institutional level. It is reckoned to be another step towards the reinforcement of internationalisation and employability of Higher Education in Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The program covered several themes, including exchange opportunities through the Erasmus+ program, internationalization at home, and the internationalization of research, international student mobility exchanges, discovering capacities, and other academic issues related to modern standardization of universities.
The training commenced with opening remarks delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhamad I. Khalil, Vice-President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Post-graduate Studies. And the opening session ran by Asst. Prof. Dr. Salar M. M. Salih, director of IRO. Throughout the three days, several topics and presentations were delivered by Dr. Jalal Saadulla, Dr. Nadhim A. Hama Sor, Dr. Yasin Ashur Jawhar, Dr. Omer Mahmud, Mr. Muhamad Y. Shakor, Mrs. Biaban Nwri, and Miss. Chnur M. Fattah.
