On September 23–24, 2025, a delegation from the University of Garmian took part in the RISE Project Consultancy Workshop, convened in Sulaimani.

The University’s delegation was headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Khalil Ibrahim, Vice president for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, accompanied by Assistant Professor Salar Mahmoud, Director of International Academic Relations, and Assistant Lecturer Chnur Mahmoud Fatah, Director of the Career Development Center.

The workshop brought together representatives from UNIMED (Mediterranean Universities Union), several European universities, and seven public universities from the Kurdistan Region. During the sessions, a joint strategy and roadmap were presented, focusing on strengthening the role of higher education institutions in the Kurdistan Region, advancing internationalization, and fostering graduate employability.

The RISE Project, coordinated by UNIMED and funded by the European Union, is a two-year initiative designed to enhance the employability of graduates from universities under the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). In addition, the project seeks to promote the internationalisation of higher education through the active engagement of both the Directorate of International Academic Relations and the Directorate of Career Development Centers at participating universities.
