On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Professor Dr. Arass F. Zainal, President of the University of Garmian, accompanied by Dr. Aram M. Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with members of the Ministry Council, paid a visit to Garmian Polytechnic University.

As part of the university’s Commemoration Week activities, Professor Dr. Zainal delivered a speech, stating: “Today is a day filled with both sorrow and pride for us.”

He emphasized that the establishment of Garmian Polytechnic University by the Ministry of Higher Education reflects the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ongoing efforts to develop and revitalize the region.

He added, “As the University of Garmian, located in a region that has endured tremendous suffering and loss, we consider it our responsibility to serve society through scientific, historical, social, and humanitarian contributions—especially regarding the Anfal case.”

During the ceremony, the President of the University of Garmian presented a shield of honor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in recognition of his role in supporting the development of the University of Garmian.
