According to the latest SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2025, the University of Garmian has made significant progress in two key areas: university rankings and research performance at both the national and regional levels.

In the most recent ranking of universities in Iraq, the University of Garmian is placed 29th out of 67 public and private universities across the country and 8th among 13 public universities in the Kurdistan Region.

With regard to research performance, the University of Garmian has achieved a notable position in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, ranking higher than six Iraqi universities and securing first place among public and private universities in a specific category.

On this occasion, the Presidency of the University of Garmian extends its heartfelt congratulations to all researchers, academic staff, students, and employees for this outstanding academic achievement.

The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) evaluates research institutions based on three key criteria, each contributing to the final ranking with different weightings:

1. Research Performance – 50%

2. Innovation Output – 30%

3. Social Impact – 20%

This accomplishment reflects the university’s commitment to advancing research, fostering innovation, and enhancing its societal impact at both national and international levels.
