On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the University of Garmian celebrated Kalar Day with a series of scientific and artistic activities.
The event took place at Sherwana Hall in the College of Science on the university campus, marking the 55th anniversary of the Kalar district. It was attended by Professor Dr. Aras F. Zainal, president of the University of Garmian, along with Vice presidents and several college deans.
In his opening speech, the university president highlighted Kalar’s deep historical roots in Kurdistan, emphasizing that numerous civilizations have flourished in the region, each leaving its mark on the land.
The celebration continued with musical performances by an artistic group, followed by seminars presented from three different perspectives on the history of Kalar and the establishment of Kalar Technical Institute. The speakers included Dr. Ahmad Bawar, Assistant Lecturer Sabah Ali Jaf, and M. Mustafa Saeed.
