On Sunday, May 3, 2026, the University of Garmian held a closing ceremony and certificate distribution for participants of the "Green and Digital Future" program. The event was attended by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed I. Khalil, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education.

The ceremony featured several distinguished guests, including Deputy Supervisor of the Garmian Administration; Director of Labor and Vocational Training in Garmian; staff from the University’s Career Development Center (CDC); and representatives from Suli Innovation House.

Supporting Youth and Entrepreneurship

In his keynote speech, Dr. Khalil emphasized the university’s commitment to youth empowerment, stating:

"The University of Garmian aims to continuously support young entrepreneurs and build active collaborations with international organizations and relevant stakeholders to create job opportunities and develop local talent."

Program Impact and Financial Support

The "Green and Digital Future" project focuses on the growth of small-scale youth enterprises. Key highlights from this cohort include:

Participants: 12 selected individuals, including current students, graduates, and local youth from the Garmian area.

Training:Participants received intensive training and professional consultancy to refine their business models.

Funding: Following the training, 7 participants successfully secured financial support for their respective projects.

Partners and Funding

This initiative was implemented through a strategic coordination between the University of Garmian’s Career Development Center (CDC), Suli Innovation House, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). It is part of the Team Europe initiative, co-funded by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of participation certificates and awards to the successful candidates and graduates of the program.
