As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities of academic staff and bolster the entrepreneurship sector, a faculty member from the University of Garmian successfully participated in an international Training of Trainers (TOT) program. The course, titled "A Green and Digital Future," focused on integrating modern technology with sustainable business practices.
Program Overview and Representation
The five-day intensive training took place from April 5–9, 2026. The University of Garmian was represented by Asst. Lect. Mohammed Hassan Salih, the Head of the Entrepreneurship Unit at the university.
The initiative was organized by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in collaboration with Suli Innovation House. This project is a Team Europe initiative, funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, specifically designed to support young entrepreneurs across the Kurdistan Region, including Slemani, Duhok, Kalar, Ranya, and Koya.
Core Training Objectives
The curriculum was designed to develop the skills of youth and educators in emerging entrepreneurial fields. Key pillars of the training included:
Business Digitalization:Implementing digital tools to modernize business operations.
Social Media Strategies: Leveraging digital platforms for effective marketing and growth.
Sustainability (Greening):Adopting eco-friendly methods to ensure long-term business viability.
Strategic Planning:Developing robust business plans for startups and existing enterprises.
Certification and Institutional Impact
The program concluded with a formal ceremony attended by Ms. Kwestan Mohamad, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. During the event, participants were awarded international certifications.
With this credential, the Head of the University of Garmian’s Entrepreneurship Unit is now a certified international trainer. He is authorized to implement this scientific and practical curriculum within the university’s centers, providing specialized training to students and local youth in the Garmian area.
