As part of its strategy to expand international partnerships, a team from the University of Garmian participated in the kickoff meeting for the MOVE project held at the University of Sulaimani. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the European Union, the UNIMED (Mediterranean Universities Union), and several local and international universities.
The primary goal of the MOVE project is to modernize academic curricula and ensure that the skills of university graduates align with the evolving demands of the labor market.
Collaborative Exchange
The University of Garmian delegation included Dr. Abdulmutalib Rafat Sarhat, Dr. Salar Mahmoud Hama-Salih, Dr. Ramal Ahmed Mustafa, and Asst. Lect. Arkan Mohammed. During the sessions, the team emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise with partner universities in Italy and Spain. The focus remains on:
Reducing Unemployment: Creating direct links between education and employment.
Enhancing Quality: Raising the standard of higher education through international benchmarking.
Hosting the Next Phase
In a significant development for the institution, the University of Garmian is scheduled to host the next round of the project on September 22–23, 2026.
This upcoming event represents a "golden opportunity" for students and faculty members to engage directly with global scientific centers. Hosting such a high-profile international project will further solidify the University of Garmian’s standing within the global academic community.
