Rasul L. Abdulrahman, an accomplished student at the Huawei Academy of the University of Garmian, proudly represented Iraq and the Middle East at the renowned Huawei ICT Competition 2025, held in China from May 20 to 24, 2025. A fourth-year student in the Department of Computer Science, College of Science, Rasul demonstrated remarkable expertise and commitment, securing third place on the global stage.
Rasul competed in the demanding Cloud Track, which covered a broad range of advanced topics, including Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Big Data. The competition consisted of an eight-hour practical exam that challenged participants to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
The event attracted 120 teams from 40 countries, underscoring its international significance and competitive nature. Rasul’s team included a student from the University of Human Development, supervised by a lecturer from Koya University, further highlighting regional collaboration and talent.
Earlier, on December 18, 2024, Rasul had earned first place at the Huawei ICT Middle East and Central Asia Competition held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That regional contest was organized in partnership with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technology in Education (IITE), underscoring Huawei’s commitment to developing digital talent worldwide.
In recognition of Rasul’s achievement, Professor Dr. Arass F. Zainal, President of the University of Garmian, extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the University Council. He commended Rasul’s dedication and reaffirmed the University of Garmian’s unwavering support for all motivated and talented students striving for academic and professional excellence.
