On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the University of Garmian held a ceremony to introduce the first volume of the Garmian Encyclopedia. The event brought together intellectuals, writers, university faculty, and distinguished guests.

In a speech, Professor Dr. Aras F. Zainal, the university’s president, celebrated this milestone and reaffirmed the commitment to publishing future volumes.

Professor Dr. Dara Hamid, the project’s lead researcher, provided an overview of the encyclopedia, highlighting its two editions, nearly 700 pages, and diverse scholarly content. The first volume covers Garmian’s geography, population, cities, climate, natural resources, and economic landscape.

Future volumes will explore the region’s history, civilization, archaeology, language, literature, culture, media, arts, and sports.

The ceremony concluded with certificates of appreciation awarded to contributors and authors.
