Publication of a scientific research by Dr. Salar Kareem Fatah and Dr. Ali Mustafa Mohammed, lecturers at the College of Education in the Physics Department of our university, titled "Synthesis of zeolite-derived blue nano-pigment and its modification for hydrophobic coating on ceramic tile," has been featured in the high ranking journal "International Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology," with an impact factor of 2.1.
It’s worth noting that this research is part of a project of fourth-year students Safeen Mohammed and Hoshyar Jalal, who were supervised by the aforementioned lecturers, and it was published in collaboration with Dr. Mohsen Khajeh Aminian and Dr. Milad Bahamirian in Yazd university in Iran.
The researchers successfully developed a novel method for obtaining blue nano-pigment using zeolite, a cost-effective and widely available material worldwide. Subsequently, they applied this pigment to the surfaces of ceramic tiles, activating it with SDS material, leading to the attainment of self-cleaning properties on the tile surfaces.
This innovation in the field of tiles and ceramics can hold significant usage and importance.
