On Sunday, January 26, 2025, a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad visited Garmian University and was warmly received by the university's President, Professor Dr. Aras F. Zainal.
The delegation included Mr. Philip Sindi, Public Engagement Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, and Mr. Handren Balaky, Program Officer: Testing Scholarships and Exchange Programs at Amideast.
Senior members of Garmian University attended the meeting, including Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed I. Khalil, Vice-President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education; Assistant Professor Salar Mahmod, Director of International Academic Relations; and Assistant Lecturer Chnur Mahmud, Director of the Career Development Center. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and coordination between the university and U.S.-based educational programs.
Professor Dr. Zainal emphasized the immense potential and energy within Garmian University and the surrounding region, underscoring the importance of extending U.S. educational initiatives to this area to foster growth and development.
Mr Philip Sindi, Public Engagement Coordinator, highlighted the strategic importance of Garmian University's geographical location and expressed a commitment to expanding the U.S. Embassy’s activities and programs in the region.
