In a strategic move to institutionalize comprehensive mental health frameworks across regional academia, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s Apparatus of Supervision and Quality Assurance, in collaboration with the SEED Foundation, officially inaugurated the "University Wellbeing Project."

The University of Garmian was formally represented at the summit by Bayan Hama Tahir Faqe, Director of the university's Psychological and Social Counseling Center.

The high-level launch was presided over by Dr. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed, Head of the Ministry’s Quality Assurance Apparatus, and Ms. Sherri Kraham Talabani, President of the SEED Foundation. The assembly convened directors from psychological and social counseling units across 72 universities and institutes throughout the Kurdistan Region to align on standardized intervention strategies.

Core Institutional Mandates

  • Optimizing Support Networks: Scaling and systematically refining the delivery of clinical and psychosocial services tailored to the student demographic.

  • Professional Capacity Building: Enhancing the specialized competencies and operational readiness of counseling practitioners across all state and private higher education institutions.

  • Strategic Diagnostic Assessment: Auditing systemic resource gaps, infrastructure deficits, and localized challenges to deploy scalable, evidence-based solutions.

This collaborative framework reflects the Ministry of Higher Education's broader policy shift toward prioritizing student mental wellness and safeguarding the academic ecosystem. Through its dedicated center, the University of Garmian continues to actively implement these regional guidelines to ensure an optimal learning environment.
