In coordination with the University of Garmian and as part of the project "The Twentieth Century: A Long Era of Wars, Discrimination, and Oppression," an international art exhibition opened in Italy. The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the Anfal campaign, the ethnic cleansing of the Kurdish people, and the sacrifices of the Peshmarga.
The "Anfalized Exhibition" was inaugurated on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the White Gallery in the Museo del Territorio in Riccione, where it remains on display through mid-February 2026.
The opening ceremony was attended by Sandra Villa (Deputy Mayor and Cultural Advisor of Riccione), Soran Ahmed (Head of the International Kurdish Cultural Foundation), and Emma Petitti (Councilor for the Emilia-Romagna Region). Andrea Tirincanti, Director of the Museo del Territorio, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of preserving historical memory in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna region.
Additionally, Serenella Mancini and Luca Colliva from the MISAC organization at the University of Bologna participated in the event. They emphasized the importance of presenting material and archaeological evidence to provide historical and social context to the suffering of the Kurds over the last century, specifically regarding the Anfal genocide.
The exhibition is open to the public free of charge at the Museo del Territorio and is scheduled to move next to the University of Bologna and other locations across Italy.
The groundwork for this event began on November 18, 2025, when representatives from the University of Bologna and the Museo del Territorio visited the University of Garmian. During a meeting at the university’s Genocide Center, the teams coordinated the exhibition’s themes and prepared the essential written documents, photographs, and video archives used in the display.
