A Lecturer from the University of Garmian has represented Iraq and the Kurdistan Region at the prestigious First MENA 3MT Competition (Three Minute Thesis), organized by Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar for the Middle East and North Africa region.
On Sunday (November 2, 2025), Mohammed Yusuf Shakor, Assistant Dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology at the University of Garmian and a current PhD student at the University of Sulaimani, was the sole representative for both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The competition, hosted in Doha, brought together doctoral students from 18 countries, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Participants had only three minutes to present their scientific research ideas to an international evaluation committee.
The event aimed to foster the exchange of innovative higher education ideas and enhance cooperation between regional universities.
