Under the auspices of the Heritage Horizons project, Garmian University, in collaboration with the University of Bologna, the Garmian Directorate of Archaeology and Culture, and the Garmian General Directorate of Tourism, hosted an international symposium titled "Strategic Partnership for Enhancing Cultural Wealth and Cultural Tourism: Examples and Best Practices."

The symposium took place on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Bardesur campus of Garmian University.

At the symposium, fifteen presenters from Kurdistan and Italy discussed their research across three main panels.

The panel topics included:

1. Fostering collaborative efforts between academic and non-academic institutions to enhance the state of archaeological and cultural sites in Garmian and to promote cultural tourism in the region through innovative technologies.

2. Key archaeological endeavors undertaken in the Garmian area and their significance in revealing the history of the region.

3. The role of cutting-edge technological innovations in the conservation and revitalization of archaeological and cultural sites, and their impact on disseminating public culture via the digitization of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
