Genocide Center of Universityof Garmian "Stepping towards a national and patriotic service for the cause of the Anfal crime and the genocide of the Kurdish nation."

     The Genocide Center at Garmian University is an academic hub dedicated to scientific research across all fields and dimensions related to the crimes of genocide, both at local and international levels. It covers genocides that have occurred throughout human history against the Kurdish people, as well as other ethnic, racial, national, and religious groups.

As a scientific and academic institution in the region, Garmian University considers it its duty to serve its nation and region through this center by researching, archiving, and documenting the cases of genocide and Anfal crimes in Garmian and broader Kurdistan.

The center was established in accordance with Ministerial Order No. (15922) issued by the Supervision and Quality Assurance Agency / Directorate of Quality Assurance and Accreditation on August 21, 2023.

Key Duties and Objectives of the Center:

1.     International Recognition: To promote international and Iraqi recognition of the genocide against the Kurdish people, engaging with global organizations.

2.     Archiving and Documentation: To archive and document evidence and records related to the crimes of genocide and Anfal against the Kurdish people and humanity. This aims to preserve these records for posterity while facilitating scientific research, books, and publications on the subject.

3.     Mobilizing Academic Capabilities: To utilize all scientific capabilities within and outside the university to conduct diverse academic research across psychological, social, legal, historical, linguistic, and cultural dimensions of the Anfal crime and Kurdish genocide.

4.     Awareness and Remembrance: To raise awareness and keep the memory of these crimes alive in the minds of the Kurdish individual and humanity. Furthermore, to advocate for the inclusion of specialized curricula on these crimes within educational institutions and government bodies, specifically the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

5.     Local and International Collaboration: To coordinate with similar centers locally and internationally to foster collective efforts that strengthen the recognition of the Kurdish genocide case.

6.     Partnership with NGOs and Organizations: To cooperate with local and international organizations to serve the cause of the Anfal and genocide crimes through various joint activities and initiatives.
