The second scientific forum of
Garmian University on Information Technology was held with the participation of representatives of six universities and local and international academic institutions.\r\n\r\nOn Saturday, October 21, 2023, the second international scientific forum in the field of information technology was held at Garmian University entitled (Second International Forum on Computing and Information Technology Trends (IFCITT-2023)) and under the slogan (Current Realities in Artificial Intelligence: A Multifaceted Perspective).\r\n\r\nThe forum was attended by representatives of seven local and international universities and a large number of lecturers, experts, and students inside and outside the country.\r\n\r\nAt the beginning of the forum, Asst. Second International Scientific Forum in the field of Information Technology delivered an opening speech and welcomed the president of Garmian University, the speakers and participants of the forum.\r\n
The Forum Events
\r\nThen Prof. Farhad Qadir Karim president of Garmian University delivered his speech and on behalf of the Garmian University Council thanked the forum organizing committee and the main speakers inside and outside the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. He added that he considers it the university’s responsibility to focus on the developments of the world, highlighting that the forum discusses a modern and necessary topic which is artificial intelligence.\r\n\r\nThe president also discussed the importance of holding such a forum annually and emphasized making necessary plans to conduct the third forum on the university campus next year. Moreover, he hoped that the forum would benefit the participants scientifically and introduce them to the latest research and practical work done in this field.\r\n\r\nThe president congratulated the College of Computer and Information Technology and the Directorate of Information Technology and Statistics for making this forum an annual tradition and a gateway to introduce Garmian University to the outside world.\r\n\r\nThen Asst. Prof. Ali Jabbar Karam, the dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology delivered a speech. He highlighted the areas of application of artificial intelligence in today’s world and described the role of the forum as an important platform to bring together experts in the field.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the lecturer Mohammed Yousef Shukur,
Director of Information Technology and Statistics of the university presented the forum objectives and highlighted the areas to be discussed in the forum. He explained that the developments in the field of artificial intelligence in the next year made it necessary to work on the collection of forum topics in the field of artificial intelligence.\r\n\r\nThe forum then began with six seminars presented by the keynote speakers. The seminars discussed the importance of artificial intelligence in changing the direction of the world, the importance of neural networks in aspects of life, and the role of artificial intelligence in the learning process, linguistics, and security. In the framework of the forum seminars, the researchers presented the results of their scientific research in this field.\r\n\r\nRepresentatives of three Iraqi and Kurdistan universities and three international universities participated in the second forum of Garmian University. 254 researchers, university professors, academics, and students from nine countries attended the open session of the second international scientific forum of our university.\r\n\r\nAt the end, comments and questions were presented and answered by the speakers in an open discussion.
